Patients usually feel back to normal within a few days after an extraction, but the body now has a big job to remodel that area where the tooth was taken out. Just like remodeling a home, there can be setbacks, so we must keep tooth extractions as a last resort.

When a tooth is removed, it is often beneficial to place bone grafting material in the socket to help that area heal and maintain the jaw bone’s ability to replace that tooth.
